Your SpiderWire is a good line, but if you are getting Wind knots then I would try the New Suffix 832, this line is very smooth and has some body so it should not wind knot, and with the Gore in the line it is also very waterproof. GOOD LUCK

You may also be experiencing some line twist which contributes to the issue.

I´m guessing we´re talking spinning outfit here....loose line on your reel spool is what causes the so called wind knot issue. Pay attention to your spool and keep the line taught at all times and your issue will go away and you will learn the cause with it.

Casting gear.....never had a wind knot with it. But you can bet it´s loose line as well.

I am using casting gear, and the problem occurs mostly with showgirl like bucktails or spinnerbaits.

I'd say it's one of three things:

1. Improperly adjusted cast control knob -- Ideally, when you hold the lure above the water and take your thumb off the spool, the lure should fall slowly.

2. Centrifigual brake weights need adjustment (i.e. all of them are locked in the "in" position)

3. Poor thumb control

The occasional backlash is to be expected when you're throwing a suick into the wind, or when you throw back at a following fish, (Why does that happen anyway?) but if it's a regular thing, something is out of whack.
