I have two in the boat one to hold the lure and the other to work on the fish.they work great on large lures and large hooks. I show other musky fisherman this and they look at me like why do I need that......just bought a third one in case they stop making them.

Having one is a must. Having two is SUPER handy. I agree, being able to isolate the free hooks with the one and work on the hooks in the mouth with the other is the program. I hardly use pliers anymore. It has definitely made unhooking muskies much faster and safer. They also make water releasing muskies and pike very easy and safe. I see Musky Tackle Online carries them now. Good.

Gotta agree with Musky3,

When I first witnessed these things laying upon the floor of a buddy's boat, I too, made the preconceived notion along the lines of; "yet another sportshow trinket" or "money wasted" upon tool. Where this thing truly shines is SAFETLY dealing with "green" pike and undersize muskies that are not that badly hooked and/or those specimans you have no intentions of ever bringing aboard!

My only request to the manufacturer would be that the hook gap and grasp at the dental end of the tool be enlarged with a dremel slightly to allow easy grasp ability of hooks larger than say 5/0-7/0. As the tool currently is, you often have to make 2-3 swipes with the gap or dental end to get a decent grip on things with larger hooks. Perhaps even a longer shank or tool length or a subtle hook or line/leader guide near the end that would make the process even more user friendly.

Great tool. You can really get some leverage with these that you somtimes can't with pliers.
