Location: Alexandria, Minnesota | Wow......That show didnt go as bad as they made it sound... One resort owner and a bunch of signatures the over weight guy got from Old Country Buffet... He was the guy handing pamphlets to people at the Cold Spring meeting telling them that their lake would be destroyed in 10 years by muskies. |

Location: Twin Cities, MN | I agree, I normally do no watch news, but did watch this.
It had the feel of the old " not in my back yard" kind of piece.
A good portion was spent with a representative from Muskies, Inc and the DNR who was allowed to state that feedback to new lakes is currently running in favor by 8-1.
The station did throw up the stats that the DNR recieved comments from 20 states and Canana, but left it at that and did not really dig into that at all.
The story really seemed to be a bunch of people who do not want anything to change. and keep additional traffic off "THEIR " lake. The DNR was alllowed to reply to their comments by stating that they do not own the lake, the citizens of MN do and that they can control fish populations when introducing new species.

| I too was pleasantly surprised by the tone of the story. I enjoyed how the DNR rep said something to the effect of;we take into account the substance of the comments to those in oppositon of the stocking. I understood that to mean they won't give any weight to the NIMBY arguement. |

I don't think it presented all of the facts nor did they point out that Minnesota's most popular angling lakes like Mille Lacs, Vermilllion, Bemidji, Cass, Lake of The Woods, Pokegama all have Muskies in them and nary a scientist has been able to show that Muskies do anything but benefit the population of sport fish. |
