Location: Delavan, WI | Well things didnt exactly get started off on the right foot- but then things got even worse and then all of sudden something that almost made up for all the bad luck happened ... read on !
1st event was on the 3rd of Oct when I backed into a rock with my 9.9 kicker thus shattering 3 gears in it- luckily Im a mechanic and was able to replace them myself keeping the cost down to $285 in parts .
2nd event was myself my wife and good friend Ben Modica were headed up to Green Bay to do some trolling and my transmission on my 97 tahoe started overheating I lost my overdrive about 50 miles out of town- since we were so close and the truck was still moving in 3rd gear - we pushed on and went fishing anyway- things started out kinda slow until
event # 3 took place and my rod went off and I proceeded to boat and CPR a 53" musky with a very large girth- as you can see in the pic its a tank- at that moment the trans problem didn't even matter- Ben ended boating a nice 43" and had another good rip- but fish got off - limped the truck back home in 3rd gear and now Im looking at replacing the transmission - but hey I guess it was worth it for a fish like that - at least that's how Im justifying it - let me know what you guys think

Location: Delavan, WI | Thanks Steve- your right about the trans- it would've probably went anyways - my truck has 157k on it and its the original trans- and I bet at least 50k was spent towing so it was due- just the whole way things went down it was kinda like destiny i guess LOL - Im glad I at least got something out of it- it woulda sucked not catching anything and have all that stuff happen. |

| Beautiful fish!!! Nobody wants there trans going out and especially not on a fishing trip but to get a nice fish like that I'd bet you'd do it all over agian! Congrats! |

| GREAT fish...and three more important words = synthetic tranny fluid
this stuff helped me get almost 200k miles on a Chrysler Corp. tranny! and it pulled a 21.5' fish n ski probby 20k miles still running strong too! |

I have to ask though, you've got a nice rig and likely do most of your launching on good ramps...how did you back your kicker into a rock? Glad the cost on repairing was low, however. |

Location: Delavan, WI | Thanks Guys - I think I would do it all over again too knowing the consequences- most importantly I got home without having to tow the truck and boat . to answer Pointerpride- I launched on Lake Koshkonong at the Royce Dallman park-1 st time there -now I dont know whether someone put a rock there on purpose or it just happened to be there, but it was about 25-30 ft behind the launch - as soon as i started backing up - I heard a loud bang and felt it hit - then my kicker started making noise- at this point I just pulled the boat back out and went home

| Martin, Julie and I fished Green Bay for a day but ended up staying another day due to the problems with the transmission. A little detail about the fight and the fish, I just had cleared my lines to let Martin bring in his board, as that rod had 175 feet of line out, Martin reeled in about 20 feet when he yelled out "I have a fish a fish hit when I was reeling it in" The Musky was following the lure and it got turned on by the advanced speed, or the lure started to blow out just as a fleeing bait fish. Martin had a great fight from a huge Musky as you can see in the picture he had a hard time holding it up. Congrats Martin, it couldn't happen to a nicer person, well the Musky part. As for the transmission payments or car repairs. We continued to have one more rip and another 43 in the boat, Sunday fished a half day no wind and only one rip but didn't fish that long.
I have spent a few days on this body of water and things change daily, we were doing well and then something changed, the depth of the bait fish had changed from the previous time we were there, also the wind was our friend it seemed to turn the fish on. By the way Martin that fish is truly a tank.

Location: Delavan, WI | Thanks to everyone that replied- its gonna be hard to beat this 1, but I will keep at it- who knows that 55" is just around the corner - right ! LOL I realize Im very lucky to have landed a fish of this size - its what keeps us all goin musky fishing . |

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the other things. Its all about timing sometimes. Those other things that happened for a reason. You would have gotten there to early and passed by that fish.
