| Here I sit. 3:10 am. Can't sleep. Thinking about how I need to break my slump. Haven't caught a muskie since July. Thinking about what lake to fish, what bait to throw, what lucky ball cap to wear. ...I'm suffering from Muskie Fever. Good luck out there this week. Hopefully tonight I'll have a picture to post.

| If you're not seeing any or catching any using the same lures in the same spots doing the same thing-do something different. Colder water slow down the presentation.
Like Tim posted are there muskies in the lakes you are fishing? |

| Lying awake at 3:00 in the morning thinkin' ain't gonna put a fish in the boat. I don't care if 'ya wear a pink tutu, the only way you're gonna catch muskies is to just get out there and fish. Find a quality fishery, spend 1/2 hour looking at the map, find a few spots, and just go fish. |

Location: Probably Minnesota that time... | NEVER QUIT! I don't get out a ton, and have had many fishless days. It took me a number of years, before I honed in on baits, lakes etc. Whenever you get out, fish hard, this time of year till ice Jerkbaits, Jigs, and especially Cranks have been my producers. Rip those cranks, experiment with speed and pauses, and don't be afraid to rip them as hard as you can. Often times when you get violent about it you will get results! 10" Jakes, and straight Depth Raiders are especially effective with this. If you want a break toss a jig or chuck a 10" Believer, fish it like a bucktail, and throw in a couple gentle pull pauses during your retrieve. There are a ton of quality baits out there and they will all catch fish, these are just some common bread and butter baits that have worked consistantly for me through the years. Enjoy your time on the water, your payoff is coming. That is what I make myself believe anyway, no fish...well you are that much closer to your next fish. Follow the weedlines and throw parallel, and angle your casts off the edge, and over the weeds. Don't forget to check the inside edge, at times they are there.
I'm all over the place again, just go fish! A lot of the lakes I fish, keeping the boat in around 12' of water seems to work pretty good. -Chris

Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Slow down casting and get a couple of suckers going. Try twitching a 12" Jake or a Suick don't forget to figure 8 and have a sucker high and low. There is a fish out there for you yet as the season is still going strong, don't give up hope keep pounding the lake until something works. Then when you see a fish stay on it for a long time and get the suckers moving. I like to accent the suckers with a couple of spinners anything to draw attention. You can do it....... |

| Just keep at it, you will be rewarded....Each time out on the lake will be a learning experience and you will become more and more familiar with it. Or think about hiring a guide in your area, you will learn tons about the lake you're on and what the fish like in it and you will most likely have that shot at breaking your slump! GOOD LUCK!

| I had a pretty good slump going for a while too...but I'm a persistent bastard, hard headed, like an occasional ass whoopin, etc...whatever it is, something keeps me tossing baits. I'm an avid shed hunter and my motto there is "walk until your hips bleed"....same with muskies almost...."chuck baits till your shoulders bleed".
I was starting to get those "maybe I should hang it up for the year and just hunt" thoughts in my head about a month ago but I thought I'd give my favorite lake just one more shot. 2 hours off the launch I was rewarded and all the fishless days were a very distant memory! That muskie fire that was dwindling was suddenly an inferno and even a month later fishing is all I can think about and all I want to do because of this fish!
Keep on it man, you can't catch em on the couch!
Persistence, passion, being stubborn - whatever it was = 48 x 22!!!!

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | 22" Girth?? From some of the supposed girths I have seen on this board this summer, your fish looks more like 29" Girth

| Well here is the update...went out that morning. Made the first drift with a follow, started the outboard to get to the beginning of the drift and I had some sort of clunk when I pushed in the throttle. That ended the day. The boat should be good to go now so Im gonna try again tomorrow. The one musky I caught this year was 51" so I cant really complain, but to not catch another in a couple months is tough. I try to make it out once or twice every week or two. I have had lots of follows, but cant get them to commit.
If anyone would like a seat in my boat tomorrow or wants a buddy for a day in theres tomorrow let me know. I am from Central WI (Wausau area). Im up for fishing Central and Northern WI.

| Oh No !!! here we go with the GIRTH thinkg again--but at least this time we have someone telling a guy his girth is underestimated. Now Ihave heard it all---But that is a super nice 48 Incher--Fat and Healthy and I am going to take it at his word on the 22" girth--Nice Job--I got a 48x23 myself last year and have a couple more shots at trying to beat it yet this season. |
