70 is way to high. I found one at a walmart brand new for $40. It was a horrible reel. I gave the reel away.

I have 3 cardiffs in the 400 size. Been solid reels for me, but for jerkbaits the gear ratio is a little slow for me. Unless your throwing gliders or twitchbaits. I use mine mainly for topwaters and gliders. For the money they are IMO a great reel.

I've had one for three seasons and has been a solid for me as well. I agree though it is a little slow for jerkbaits. Good reel for the money!

the cardiff is a good reel for the price. I have a few of them that i have on some of my backup rods. Never had an issue with any of them as long as you take the care in cleaning and keeping them lubed up. If you are looking for a good $100 reel, the cardiff is probably the best choice.

cardiff is most def. worth the money, imo better then the calcutta b........ and a hundy cheaper- besides for the c note if you need to replace it 3-4 yrs later its worth it...... ive pulled big blades, plastic and used it in saltwater for fish that pull harder and longer then muskies so by far an excellent buy. and for 110.00 cant beat it.... and when they do get put on back up duty with the 400 size with the clicker its an excellent sucker/ trolling reel

I have one in the 300 size that I used for a couple seasons. I haven't had a single problem with it. It's smooth. I like the thumb bar. No problems casting or retrieving or anything like that. I think I paid $109 for it. Depending on the shape it's in? I'd say $70 is a fair price unless it's had the tar beaten out of it. It's a lot better than a lot of other reels in that price range, that's for sure.

I had one and the first day the clicker stayed engaged. I have to return it ...........but I guess that could happen to any of them...........The reel appears to be a nice reel for the price. New at Cabelas around $110 to 119
