Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | You definitely want them to be hooked up to your starting battery. Hooking them up to your trolling motor could lead to problems with voltage spikes, could lead to blown fuses and you'll most likely get interference with the graph if you hook them up to the trolling motor batteries. Get yourself the biggest starting battery you can get, and you'll be set!

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | Another good thing for this time of year if you are running your electronics all day and or other items on the boat is too make sure you either charge the battery the night before real good or run the main outboard once in a while to help keeping a charge on the starting battery. They can drain in this weather pretty quick. Happened to my brother in-law a couple of weeks ago. He had to get in to get his fish registered before end of time. He took my boat back and I took his boat in using the trolling motor.

Well, it's not bad at the time as it extends the fishing time for me, but then I have to deal wrath of the wife when I get home 4 hours later than expected. ![]() twells - 10/14/2010 11:00 AM Another good thing for this time of year if you are running your electronics all day and or other items on the boat is too make sure you either charge the battery the night before real good or run the main outboard once in a while to help keeping a charge on the starting battery. Posts: 333 Location: menasha wi 54952 | The wrath of the wife is exactly why I made up a very short set of jumper cables to go from the TM batteries to the main cranker. Also a safety type thing as well. Would not want to get caught on big water a long way from the landing. MR
