Posts: 317 | Saw a small write up on this fish in this months In-Fisherman. Caught by Capt. Brett Alexander on Green Bay, weight calc puts this fish over 70#. It's bigger than the McNair fish, yet I have seen no noise about this one. Anyone know anything. It's a true beast. Attachments ---------------- 82.jpg (118KB - 216 downloads)

Posts: 785 | I was wondering when this one was gunna come up. I seen it in in-fisherman also. I did the weight calculator on MHM for it and it came to like 79 pounds. I'm not saying that's how much it weighs but it is truly a giant fish!!! Possible world record?? Out of the Bay none the less too.

Talked to him this spring the day he got one that he estimated to be in this size range. Caught in April trolling for Walleyes, but not actually measured. Could it be the same one?

Posts: 1037 | Wow. I know that Haataja caught a giant like that a few years ago while jigging for walleyes. I hope that this fish was caught recently and can be considered for a record if it really is 70+ pounds. Would be nice to get the controversial fish out of the record books.

The fish was caught out of season so it would not count anyway. He seems to catch allot of these out of season. Always thought it was illegal to target fish when the season is closed! Can't believe a magazine as well known as In-fisherman would have an article about a guy with an illegal fish. Wonder how many guys that fish got handed to in the boat for pictures? P.S. Nice fish

Posts: 184 | freakin' monster. to me it looks bigger than the mcnair fish but.... this fish and i wear the same pants size. crazy! that stocking has been incredible for you guys on the bay. i wish that we would stock the heck outta them in lake erie to bring the buffalo harbor back just like you guys did to the bay. i am surprised w/ all the world record fish talk no one cares if its a natural fish or a fish that is stocked for the record. would it matter? in some ways yes.

I have fished with Bret before--and also have seen the pics and story of this fish from him months ago----He was not trying to make a big deal about it--Yes caught trolling for walleye in the spring--using walleye size crankbait and he does believe the fish to be in the 70lb range. I guarantee this fish was not passed around for any photos and was released properly--I have caught a couple decent fish with him and he would only let me take 2 quick photos and the fish was back in the water---He also unhooks and measures his fish in the water everytime I have been with him---He is a true catch and release sportsman and I am sure handled this fish accordingly----But THIS IS NOT THE ONLY GIANT to come out of the area---Spring time up there yields many out of season large fish to the walleye fisherman---The muskies and the walleye are using the same areas in the spring so out of season catching of them is going to happen.

Posts: 519 Location: Bloomington, IL | What an awesome fish. Man what a hog. The formula LxG/25-10 put this fish at 67.05 lbs. I believe there have been a couple of articles in MH and/or EA a few years back comparing formulas, and comparing them to the actual weights of historical fish and verified fish of 45" or bigger. The LxG/25-10 formula seems to be more accurate than the LxGxG/800 formula, particularly on large muskies.

Posts: 229 | I believe there is an error in the reported size in this thread. I heard that possibly this fish measured at 54" X 28". Great fish nonetheless. I just think the channel this was reported through got the number messed up. I am not taking a shot at the angler- he did not post this. John

You may be right but I also think Bret got 2 very large fish this spring so I am not sure which 1 this is----Either way -- SUPER NICE WI FISH--and 54x28 while not 70 lbs is still a HOG !!!!!!!!!!!
