It's been a good season and unfortunately for me it's over now. I was looking over my season photos and discovered one of my 48's was a repeat fish. This is nothing new but it's the first time it's ever happened to me. I was pretty excited. I got her in August and than again in September on the exact same spot. She has a yellow dot on her belly and a bit of damage on the base of her tale that are good marks to use to verify.

...and in looking further discovered I got the same 48 my mother had caught last season. I was holding for her though as it was just the two of us and she didn't want to. Kinda hard to tell with the reduced image size but the jaws are obviously the same as well as a yellow spot behind the middle fins and a black dot behind the gills. It's pretty much common knowledge but just more proof that catch and release works!!!

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL & Phillips, WI		Really cool! Further proof that CPR works and these fish aren't as delicate as people think. I really question some peoples claims about high mortality rates on CPR'd fish!!

I'm writing the manuscript as we speak. Paper will be completed later this year or early 2011, then it's up to the publisher to get it out after that. The mortality and behavioral data was collected last summer, the physiological data is still being collected this fall.

The first fish had a bucktail swallowed. Carefully removed the hooks, bump boarded her. Couple quick photos and away. She definately didn't lose weight between encouners. The second I found interesting it didn't get any bigger in a year but maybe it's nearing it's max. Idk. Fish is definately a sucker for big blades at night as that's what got her both times. I was j thinking how big a deal it is when a fish is harvested. I'm sure others possibly have caught these same two fish and this year alone had we kept them that's two 4 footers we wouldn't of gotten. Keep letting them go and letting them grow!

Location: MN		I agree that a little more hardiness data would be a good thing, let's not let any reports fool us into thinking we don't have to take the care with them that we do.
