| Most likely you will find them at the edge of weedbeds as the sun comes up. Try black topwaters very slowly. Daylight: They also will suspend in approximatley 15-20 feet of water over deep water. Look for bait schools or dimples from bream on the surface. Fish below them and you may get one. Find the thermocline depth and fish either in it or slightly above it. Also seek out other areas in the lake that are the same depth as the thermocline (it's usually 15-20 ft in my lake if I can find it) and try those areas. Of course you want fish attracting structure in those areas. Troll crankbaits or use jigs depending on the depth that you fish. Try to simulate the size and color of the forage in your lake. As the summer goes on into fall, I have found that increasing your baitsize works. Generally speaking, they do not bite at night, but will hit a figure 8. I have a Tiger section on my site. | Failed to mention in my other post:
Fish at the edge of the first drop-off (15-20' generally speaking in my lake) and the secondary drop-off (20-30' in my lake) if you have one. Look for fish-holding structure in those areas (weeds, stumps, trees, etc.)
Overcast days - move shallower, but generally speaking they are fairly deep in the dog days of summer. |
