I'm still looking for the right diving crankbait, wide body, fat bait, high floatability. Dives 10-12' Has a stout PC lip for ramming into weeds & cover. Once it contacts the cover the floatability backs it up and she rises fairly fast rolling side to side. Rebel Maxi R from the 70's only larger. I have 3 color patterns that are main interest and I want about a dozen each of them. I am on the last one of those I have been using for this over the years.

Ok, here's a debate from way back when. I bring back to Minnesota from down south a lure that no one knew about. A smithwick minnow bait. They were just getting going in the market, Bass Pro was just out of Johnny's garge or around then. Everyone said we have the Rapala minnow, don't need it. But the smithwick did some things the Rap wouldn't do. Years later we did have a big one made but it did not have the same response as the smaller version. I sat at a few discussions what does the Smithwick have that the Rap doesn't? The answer to that leads to the bait you want, because enlarging the original Smithwick didn't do the job. I like the idea allot, and there was a version made by a craver in Canada that had almost a hump back that came very close. But they broke easily in 1/2.

Does the AC shiner fall in that range? They always remind me of the Smithwicks a little.
