Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Pikemaster, do you know how the Gore-Tex strand or strands keeps the line so dry? I could understand how 100% GoreTex would, but why doesn't the blend have many wet fibers surrounded by one dry GoreTex fiber? Also, why is a sinking line so desireable? I could see where it would be a plus when trying to add some depth to some baits, but will it really make much difference there? Also, would nose heavy topwaters work right with the sinking line? Sounds like neat lines coming out and I might have to try them. I'm just not sure HOW they work. Not that I need to know HOW as long as they work, but I'm curious you know? curleytail

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | If a line has 20-50% GORE then it will be 20-50% dryer over a std braid. Gore is very slick so a Gore line will cast further with less noise. I will give them a try, I'm always looking at new tech products, some are better and some are not. I'm using Berkley Tracer Braid now, but the color does not last long with this line. The sinking line will work for getting your bait down fast and I use Braid for trolling so a sinking line will work very well for trolling. Top water WTD baits I dont think so .

Sinking line would be good for added hang time on lures like Suicks, getting deeper with crankbaits and glide baits, plus doing away with a weighted leader. Just to name a few..... I'd like to give a spool a whirl, I think I'd like it for about everything EXCEPT topwater .....and since I rarely use/catch fish on top.....it may be a good line for me. DR

Posts: 1270 | I wonder how fast it actually sinks in regards to top water baits. I would agree that in general you would not want a sinking line for top water but in musky fishing we are already using a leader that sinks like a rock!

![]() Posts: 210 Location: VA | reelman you make a good point! If the new sinking braid "sinks like a rock" then the longer the cast the heavier the line and the faster it'll sink. I cant wait to hear a few reviews. DR

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | Reelman, I guess that's kind of what I was wondering. Does this new stuff just 'kind of' sink, or is it really going to weigh lures down? Will it sink enough to make topwaters not work? Will it sink enough to actually get some baits to run noticeably deeper or hang longer? Only time will tell! curleytail
