What a great trip....
I fished the east side (Sabaskong Bay/Nestor Falls) and moved them all over. Made it as far as the Grassy Narrows also. Most action was around Deer Island and Hay Island. The bloom was thick in some areas and had to move to find the clear water. They were slamming bucktails ans surface lures all day long. I used white/copper blades and had one completely mangled by a slob of a northern. I also tossed black/char, black/copper, white-char/sil and had lot's of action. The white combo's produced the most action. I also tossed pacemakers(grn/blk) and top-raiders(baby loon) and had action on those as well, but the bucktails seemed to produce the most. The winds pushed us around quite a bit (20-30 mph gusts) at times and missed a storm front that should have come thru Wed. The local's said the "Best colors" were Black/sil, and Black/org. I fished weeds/rocks close to shore with access to deep water and found a few rock bars in deeper water. Most came from the shallow structures close to shore. I did talk to a guy that told me he landed a 37" with a minnow/jig on 6 lb test.(Isn't that special??)I had a few hard hits jigging for wallleye in about 20ft(on the reef's) and can only wonder....[:praise:].
I hope this info is useful to anyone heading up. I did notice a few WI boats up there this week. I hope to hear how others did this past week!

Take Care,
Karen

Karen, glad to see you had fun up there. Time up there will eventually put a big fish in your boat. I hope to get up to canada next year, it's either that or disneyworld. I have taken my kids to disneyworld already so maybe canada. They would love it.[:)]
