Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> Baseball

OK I know it's a Muskie site.......But

I want to put my opinion on the internet and by chance that one of the gentlemen that own or play for a MLB team see this then they will know how I feel. (Small chance they got $$$ to count)

I'm done. Goodbye! See ya! Thanks for the memories! I'd rather watch drunk guys playing softball that are playing for the fun of it and to win than to watch you or your teams.

I do not fault either side of the issue simply the entire issue.

Again goodbye.

And for those who think that this site should just be about fishing.....Go buy a muskie magazine...read it front to back, back to front then eat the damn thing.

(Thanks Common)

Bring on the college football and basketball. I rather watch athletes give everything they got for a goal. The only time major league athletes play is during the final year of their contracts. I really feel sorry for the baseball players who cant afford to feed their families and provide shelter making a million or more a year. I think that teams should apply to the government to get the players welfare and foodstamps to help offset their low wages.[:)]

I agree. ((FOOTBALL IS HERE!)) ((and Muskie fishing still is TOO!))

And everyone that I've talked to this summer about the impending baseball strike has said the same thing: "if they strike, then I'm through with the game (MLB that is...) I have a feeling that the folks who are saying this stuff this time around might actually follow through and not go to another baseball game. I know that I won't....

I'm done too.
I have Badger Hockey season tickets. I'll spend my money taking my wife and daughter to Madison 12 weekends this year to watch kids who are playing simply for the love of the game!

If they would extend the NBA season and NFL season a little longer noone would watch, if they do anyway.Baseball just sucks and the players are steroid babies.I would rather watch soccer, more action. What kind of sport can you just stand there and get a reward?(a Walk). You guessed it baseball.I hope they strike.0723

I'm w/ you guys to a degree...I only watch the World Series more or less. My great Grandad played for the Washington Senators + later the Detroit Tigers + pitched against Babe Ruth + those guys in that era...Walter Johnson picked him up at the train station as a rookie; Doc Ayers was his name if you have an Almanac + want to look him up. I read an interview the paper did w/ him in '68 + he couldn't believe the amount of $$$ thay were paid then...he was quoted as saying back then they played for the love of playing...I wonder what he would say now! After chasing Ty Cobb out of a park w/ a baseball bat when he was w/ Detroit, he was pretty much done w/ baseball but always kept up w/ it. Seems almost all the pro sports are heading in that direction w/ the exception of hockey, which remains me favorite sport to watch![:0]

If these guys can't live of say $150,000 or so a year there is something seriously wrong with them, they are not even home half of the year to spend all of their money. I bust my ass saving lives and make more of an impact in peoples lives and you don't see me out there striking because I'm not making enough money!! We do it because we have passion for what we do, if they had truly played baseball for the love of the game they would not be walking out on the fans who pay their extremely inflated and highly unnecessary salaries!!!!!

You would strike too if the average salery where you work was only 2.5 million. I mean get real. Think about it. The minimum salery is a meager 300K. Most of those guys need a victory garden just to get enough sustinance to sit on the bench for 2 1/2 hours...... Thats quite a story sponge! Make sure you get as much of those memorys passed along as possible.[:knockout:] [;)]

Was neat Floater hearing how they rode trains to games + played cards + stuff to pass the time...Mom has some old pics + stuff that are neat too...they were a somewhat rowdy bunch at times, but really enjoyed what they were doing; he left med. school to play, so he must have really liked it!
