Pike are the worst for cannibalism that I have seen, a 3 inch pike I had in my tank that ate a 2 3/4 inch sibling. I had brought them both home the same day and one was missing the next day, the larger one had the tail of its sibling hanging out of its mouth. That was a $14 loss

Posts: 1291 Location: Hayward, Wisconsin | During the spring netting for the study on Eagle Lake in the 80's, we had a 36" pike in the net that had eaten a 22 inch whitefish...almost 2/3rds of its length. You can't throw a bait/lure tooooo big!

Posts: 688 Location: Northern IL | Hi Larry, There are times and people that seem to come along that make a meaningful impression, though at the time it may not seem to mean a thing. You might not remember but I 1st met you in 1996 I believe, at the Chicago muskie show at the Inland meeting center, long time now. Terry O'Malley was one of the headliner speakers. I remember when my fishing buddy Billy and I came up and introduced ourselves, and said It's an honor to meet you Mr. Ramsell, "We are spoonpluggers!" The one with the booth next to yours began to laugh out loud, I'll never for get the look on his face as he literally crawled like a snake under his booth, don't think I ever thanked you for that. Today many days and fish later Billy and I are still hitting it hard. I'll see ya around some day. Thanks again!

Posts: 2361 | For muskies I am sure 1/2 their length is a normal capability, if the prey is well shaped. Hard to tell what the top end is though, since fish are not averse to swimming around with part of dinner still sticking out.

Today I watched a super pride of lions taking down a Elephant, the Elephant won. The wild always seems to amaze me, such as a 30 inch Musky eating a 18" sucker.
