Location: Stevens Point, WI | I recently had about a month long slump where i couldn't get a fish to hit. Now the muskies are back in action, but most of the fish i'm catching look awful. I've never seen them so skinny. Has anyone else seen this happen where you fish? It seems like they just quit eating for a month. How might this affect the fishing for the rest of the year? |

Location: Northern IL | When I saw the title I thought he must be fishing Pewaukee,, ha ha but yes it happens especially in lakes where the the muskies are the dominate fish, or not a lot of forage, or a shallow thermocline and after they spawn they are in recovery mode. There are probably other reason as well, diseased fish, just kidding but who cares come fall they will be fat and full of eggs again. Nothing to worry about it. good luck |

Location: Maple Grove, MN | I think that they sometimes go on a low-fat diet and eat mostly low-oil baitfish like sunfish. They seem to do that on the lakes I fish more early in the year, but usually fatten up later in the year.
Its strange though because sometimes we catch a skinny one and a fat one just casts apart on the same spot. Maybe some of the fish swim more and are just lean, mean machines while the fat ones are the weed or "couch" potatos that just like to eat, hang around, and grow fat. Kind of like some of us.  |

| and were these skinny muskies caught recently? after they feel hooks they say there is a shut down of feeding activity that can last awhile along w/ all the above mentioned ideas. |

| seems like fish all over a little skinier this yr than last yr......metabolism, water temps are high, getting to be real high |

| The skinny muskies is a result of the recession... They had to cut back on eating out.

Location: Northern IL | Talking about Pewaukee I went there today, haven't really been there in a few years so thought I'd check and see if they were still skinny, and my results after today was,,, they're about average and kind of beat up. The 6 I caught, 4 had marks on them probably from the spawn, didn't get anything big, just average Pewaukee fish. |
