Posts: 1504 Location: Oregon | Hopefully I won't get in trouble with the mods for posting this here. It's not a musky but I'm sure some here will like to see this picture. My boy and I caught this sturgeon today on the Columbia River in Oregon. The fish was 10'8" long......no idea what it weighed but it was alot! We hooked the fish on a whole fresh shad in about 53' of water and it took about 30 minutes to land on 100# braid. In the first minute the fish jumped one time completely clear of the water, spectacular jump. Those are my feet in the pic, I was standing on the gunnel and wish I could have gotten the whole fish in the pic but the fish was too long. We used a rope to determine the length and then measured the rope with a tape. The fish was released unharmed. Jed Edited by RiverMan 6/27/2010 11:00 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 1504 Location: Oregon | Sturgeon are not the cool predator that Musky are but I think most fisherman would enjoy catching a sturgeon. When you see a fish that is over 10' long and hundreds of pounds jump out of the water in front of you it is really something to see. When this fish hit the water it sounded like someone had just dropped a piano off the bridge!!! I wish I could have gotten it all into the photo...............you are seeing a bit more than half of the fish in the photo. Jed Edited by RiverMan 6/28/2010 10:08 AM
