Posts: 605 Location: Marshfield, WI | I've had a ton of follows on this bait so far this year and haven't been able to get any fish to hit them yet. Any advice to get them to hit before the bait reaches the boat? I've been fishing it kind of like a suick, but with longer pulls. Only been using the 9" one so far this year. Thanks, Krishna

Posts: 812 | They do bring up a lot of follows, my advice is to keep changing up your action on them, especially when you've got those pesky followers. I've seen fish completely change their mood when you rip it forward very quickly. This allows the bait to move a lot of water and with the way it sinks head-down it will fall right in front of their nose. You may also want to try to use it as a twichbait too, it will swim left and right and look more like a glider than a swimbait. Depending on how shallow you're fishing, you may also want to rip it on the surface too, this works really well fishing below dams!

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | The Sues are great baits. I think the closest thing I have seen to a follow on these is seeing a fish eat, or try to eat them a couple feet down at the side of the boat. I think getting follows depends a lot on the lake and conditions you are using them on. I typically use thse baits out in deeper water, where I feel you get fewer follows anyway. Also, lots of times I am ripping the baits pretty hard, which I have a feeling makes a fish either get out of the way or smoke the bait. I would say try to make your retreive more erratic, or try giving it some hard rips to trigger a strike. I only own the 11" size also - not sureif that would matter or not. curleytail

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | K-Bob, I very rarely get follows on these baits, they generally just attack them. I tend to work them very aggresively, and I think that is what triggers them. I will do regular pulls, kind of like your suick analogy, but I throw in some almost violent twitches. They are great baits, and once you find the trigger almost all those followers will be eaters. I catch a bunch of fish on Curly Sues every year, and rarely see folllows.

Posts: 605 Location: Marshfield, WI | Thanks for the help. I'll try the violent ripping more. I bet I've had at least a dozen follows on them and no hits. I usually have been fishing them just off the weed edge, around 12' of water or deeper. The follows have been on several different lakes. I haven't thrown the 11" much. Krishna
