Gusting to upwards of 33 mph sporadically throughout the day.

Good luck and be safe, you guys.

Your trophy? Have you guys ever won that trophy? Even the year we had around 25 boats and only 5 of them were Figure 8 boats we still hung onto it. Sounds like a Vikings fan saying they want "their Lombardi trophy."

well it was made by roger, so thats all i have to say about that.
and.... there was some a last minute entry of a fish one year by one of your guys
that seemed like an ace in the hole....
otherwise that year wouldve been ours! hehe jk,

usually most of our club members fish GB that time of the year, so its hard to
get a good turn-out for that event.
I dont think there was ever a year when we outnumbered you in boats in the
outing either.

gusting winds to 33mph??? wow, lighthouse is lookin rather cherry for a good spot to work over

One year it "would've been yours." Nice... Tiffany and Company make the Lombardi trophy every year so I guess using your logic those 6 that are in Pittsburgh, 5 that are in Dallas, 5 that are in SF, 3 that are in GB rightfully belong to Tiffany and Co.

We used to have exceptional turnout for that event, but you are right, since GB exploded a lot of guys (even some of our own) head to the Bay. It's actually too bad that has happened because the camaraderie between the two clubs is a lot of fun. Sure, we could do something on the Bay but that eliminates a bunch of guys who simply don't have the boats capable of handling water like that. Oh well...

It was 2006 when we were severely outnumbered. I had to check my pictures. We had two fish in my boat within the first hour and then another one of our guys nabbed one a couple hours later. A slew of our guys were fishing a tournament up in Minocqua or Eagle River, some went out to the bay and the rest of us were looking around thinking we'd lose "our" trophy. hehehehe. Wasn't meant to happen. There were a lot of fish caught that day but they were undersized. This might have been the year before Joe did his impersonation of the Edmund Fitz.

Edited to add: Dogboy, I sent you a PM.

i believe it was 07' that joes boat had a "slight" leak in it.
he won the deadcarp award in our club that year for it as well.
which for those that dont know what that is, you've gotta have something
pretty hilarious/dumb happen to you to get the honors of winning.
yeah, nuf said! hehe

Perhaps we could we could use our spring outing and join in the Spring Tournament with the Figure 8's. Might be more of an incentive to get more guys from C&R to show up?? Is it always the same weekend Ulbian?

It always is father's day weekend. The first few years it was just a Figure 8 Outing/Tournament but in the last few we have opened it up and I'm pretty sure we've contacted other clubs (C&R, Packerland, the Fondy guys) about it. That might not have happened the past two but I'm not sure. I do know that in years past we have had non-Fig. 8 guys fishing it who were members of those clubs. Not many, but there were a few.

Just make sure that you have the right permits you'll need to do it (if the number of boats is high enough and if there are prizes on the line.) If you need them you'll need about a month to get them turned around so if it is the 3rd week of July you better get on it ASAP.

C & R Musky Club will be holding a Green Bay outting again this October, I hope. I will get it decided on at the August meeting. I'm figuring it will be the weekend before the Best of the Best again. I want to open it up to other clubs. I hope we can get a new trophy going. I will post more details after the meeting.

U is right, figure 8 won it even the year we had a butt load of boats and they only had a few. I guess that's what happens when it's their home water. One thing I would like to add is who won the money 2 years in a row? Answer, same guy that pulled a Fritzgerald.
