I have been looking for a resort to try next year with the wives family. I will start off by saying this is NOT a muskie trip, its a family trip. I will also say I know all about spring bay resort (very nice), but I am looking to hear about other places here as well.

What I am looking for: a place with "nicer" cabins and things to do with the family - beach, games, easy to get around, etc.

We will be doing mostly walleye fishing, and will probably be there in Mid June. Please fire away with any recommendations. Thanks!

S.B. has all of that stuff........... And believe it or not, more people fish for walleye's there more than they do muskies
Last week steve took out a couple guests for 3-4hrs and boated 16 eyes...... you don't have to go far to be on very good Walleye spots from S.B. and Smallies are close by also.
I hear Life of Riley resort is pretty nice... it even comes with puppies& kittys, I hear.
Look up "Vermilion Resorts" there are some good ones.

Vermilion Dam Lodge has been very good to me. I've only been there a couplke times but they seem to work with you very easily. The location is at the dam on the north side of the lake and it's centrally located for your boating to the east and west. They have nice cabins, a swimming beach AND a pool if the lake is too cool in June, volleyball and other set ups for the family. Since it's right on the old dam to the river, you can hike down the rapids area to the lower part, it's kind of cool to walk over the rocks. Thje land on the other side of the lake/river at the resort is boundry water land with no development. It's beautiful. Check it out at this link.

I'm leaving for a week trip for VDL this weekend! I can't wait.

Hey Dogger,

Also recommend Spring Bay--Joe and Steve have been very good to my wife and I.

Also right down the road---Check out the White Eagle---We stayed there for two weeks before we heard about SB and really liked it a lot! Great cabins, views, grounds, reminds one of the old school Wisconsin resorts back in the day. Mike and Bonnie---will do what it takes to give you a great trip. Prices are about the same as the other resorts---Not as many hard core fishing types when I was there--more families.

Also check out Whispering Winds Resort just down the road from the Landing also on the West End of Vermilion. The Johnsons are great---Their son Jeremy is one of the best Musky guides on the lake---He specilizes on the West End--also does Walleye----He boated a 51.5 when we fished together. His name is not as well known as the others---but he fishes a lot and will give you the best and latest info.
They also went out of their way when I had some serious boat problems. Great people---nice resort.

Can't go wrong with those 3 in my opinion.

I'd suggest Ludlow's Island Resort. A bit more pricey, but very nice people and lots of stuff to do. It's in the middle of the west end--good access to fishing either way.

My family liked it a lot.

You'll hear lots of Spring Bay talk here which is fine. very nice place, great great people no doubt. But in my opinion, there are better family type resorts. I'd look at Perhson and Ludlows for a family vacation. both are EXPENSIVE, but have kids activities, nice beach, and lots of stuff for family to do. VDL is also in this ballpark. You may get a price break because mid june may fall into spring rates.
