| Thanks for all the wonderful words of encouragement. If I were a Bass fisherman, I probably would have given up. However, I'm a Musky fisherman!
Something else I've noticed since I injured my leg. Perhaps you "Knee/leg veterans" can answer this for me:
I"ve noticed that when I get in the boat with my injured knee, I always feel better, even if I catch nothing. I usually fish from about 0600 hours until around 1500 hours.
Now I've noticed that when I go to work, my knee hurts like hell. My hours there are 0600 hours until 1500 hours. Why is this happening?

| According to my psychotherapist- "Muskie fishing is a psychoactive pain killer!" Your brain is so focused, you can't feel your physical pains. But what the heck does an elastic porous mass of interlacing horny figers know? But he know's a great deal about pain, especially at work. Perhaps you should consult him also.

| Muskiekid, I checked my wife's nursing book and found out that you have an unusual but not uncommon condition known as "Ratherfishous Thanworkous Syndrome"! Don't be alarmed
however, the condition can be treated with extended hours of serious muskie fishing and tylenol![]
Take a small Slammer crankbait in the Red Dragon color pattern, and remove the hooks. Keep it in the pants pocket which is closest to your bad knee. The powers of the "Orient" which are implanted within the bait will have magical effects to help your knee while at work.
One warning though, don't use the larger Slammer Crankbait sizes because your female co-workers may think that you are real happy to see them! LOL!! [;)] |

| I've had cartilage damage repaired by arthroscopy in both knees. As a "veteran," I can tell you that recovery is not linear, coming in different size steps, & that age, general physical condition & mental toughness all affect the process.
A former marathon runner, it took more than 6 mos before I could get past a fast walk after my first 'scope - the least involved. Any attempt to move up onto the balls of my feet lit me up! Have still not regained full range of motion after my 2nd 'scope (11/01) & I pay for today's strenuous activity tomorrow: Run the bases @ softball - limp a day, maybe 2.
Medication of choice: Aleve is magic for me. Fishing is therapeutic regardless of my ails.

| A big asset is a "good" knee brace, not just a wrap. Ace bandage style wraps will stretch over a short time. Don't be afraid to spend some money on a brace because the performance
of the brace is directly proportional to the cost! Another little bit of advise is watch out for your good knee. You will be over compensating for your bad knee and that will cause wear and tear on your good knee.
Even after your knee is getting better keep the brace with you. In the boat, in the car, in your gym bag, anywhere that you could hurt it. |

| Thanks for all the good info. I have a really good brace that I've been wearing since a short time after the operation. It's similar to what NFL players wear. After PT, the doc says he may put me in a permanent brace. Good info here. What started out as a joke actually turned into very useful info. for me. Thanks for responding. Tom[;)] |

| Who cares about you kneee LOL it's only one body part. Man my shoulders, elbows, fingers, neck and back hurt in all of their areas some 30 minutes after I am off the water.
Easy cure just fish 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
I think I am getting old. [:0] |
