Clipped one of my Phantom tails on the edge of a tree branch last night and ripped the tail off. Do I really need to spend $9 on a bottle of adhesive with a special Phantom label on it that I'll need to order online...?

Or will any waterproof adhesive suffice...? Anyone use anything different...?

Make sure both the bait and the tail are completely dry and the new tail is not oily as they come in the package.
Then regular super glue has worked for me in the past.

I have found a huge difference in the super glue that has a brush in the bottle. Lasts 10 times longer than the others that were squeeze and drip bottles.

I've always used the gel super glue for everything. I may have to try the brush on stuff though. You might have something there.

I actually ended up buying this 2-ton waterproof epoxy on eBay for $5 a couple of months ago. I dabbed some of that on the end of the tail a couple of nights ago and I think it's safe to say... it's not going anywhere. hahaha.

That Phantom Glue is VERY good stuff. It's over 99% pure cyanoacrylate (fancy word for superglue). The stuff you get in the hardware store is less pure as they fill them with preservatives so the bond isn't going to be as strong. This is the same quality of glue you'd find on a manufacturers floor.

It's also a product made in the good old USA (Wisconsin to be exact). You can use it for pretty much any other gluing application you may have in the boat or otherwise. I know it works because it's the stuff I've been using for my tails for the last several years.

Just don't get the Phantom glue on your fingers..... nasty stuff. I've used it to replace a few tails and it works great. It may be a couple bucks more than buying normal superglue but I like to support such a great company.
