| I'm in the process of making a deck extension/ storage area for my 618T. I'm going to glass the wood in before carpeting. Any tips for me? I would imagine it is important to glass the edges of the wood and all the seems since I'll put it all together first before glassing and carpeting. Should I wrap the edges with the fbric glass mat too? I used 3/4 inch treated plywood and some treated 2 x 4s. I know I'll have to leave a bit of room around the circumfrence of the deck for the added width of the carpet. I'm thinking about an 1/8th of an inch all around.

| I have used Raka epoxy, slow cure think it was 1 hour set time, 12 hours to cure. No glass just sealed wood with the RAKA. May need glass as well for strength if you are using thinner wood. With the slow cure it really soaks in and seals the wood. Would then need to rough up the epoxy prior to glue and carpet.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Fiberglass resin, with one problem. Treated plywood won't absorb the resin, so don't try it. Just seal the seams with silicone sealant and carpet it. |

Location: Canada | We just used fiberglass resin (no fiberglass mat) to seal the bare consoles before they were wrapped in carpet, worked well.

Location: Des Moines IA | I etexed all the wood in my deck extension. Worked well. roughed it up with some 80 grit sandpaper before applying the carpet glue. Worked like a charm. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | If the wood is treated, the resin will certainly harden on the surface, but if it can't penetrate and/or bond, it will eventually (soon) simply crack and peel....just like on a lure body where there's no bond. |

| So do you think making out of regular plywood then glassing it would last longer than using the treated with no fiberglass? I want it to last a long time since that Ranger carpet is pretty expensive.  |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Treated plywood with the end grain sealed and carpeted with marine grade carpeting lasts a very long time. I've had one n a boat that lives outside 24/7 365 for 6 years, and it's still going. |
