Posts: 294 Location: New Jersey | Suicks are one of my favorite baits. I just had to send two 10 inch weighted suicks back to R & H because they are sinking, tail first like a rock. Does anyone know if they have changed something or is anyone else having similar problems. Thinking about giving steve a call, what do you guys think? thanks, Rob

Posts: 605 Location: Marshfield, WI | My friend had one like that too. This was 4 years ago or so. When you let it rest, it would sink tail first with the rest of the bait pointing up. Is this how you would want it weighted or by adding the extra weight to the front, did that make it run better. Do you like your suicks to have a slight rise, suspend, or sink? My friend bought a 12" weighted and it sinks level. It has pretty good action though. Krishna

Posts: 2361 | Interesting, but my weighted suicks from the factory don't sink. Does it partially submerge the rear end, or like a rock, continue toward the bottom? And does this mean it rises head up, or pops the head up as you retrieve it? I would never send a bait back like this until I gave it a reasonable try to see what the fish think. But if it does something you don't like, it is probably best to send it back, you will never have any confidence in it. Edited by firstsixfeet 6/6/2010 9:15 AM

Posts: 550 Location: So. Illinois | Its the nature of the bait. SUicks are made of wood. Not all act the same, difference in density of the wood the bait is made from. I have some weighted suicks that float, some that suspend or appear to be neutral, and some that sink. My favorite suick is a 10" weighted that sinks slowly tail first. YOu can modify the suick by moving the weight, removing some of the weight, adding weight, etc...

Posts: 582 | i have 8 suicks in my tackle box. ONly ONE of the runs like it should after i modified. The others are all over the place. Love the bait, just can't stand the inconsistency of them.

Posts: 32930 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have well over 50 Suicks, and don't have a single one I can't make run. Learn how to tune them. Heck, send 'em to me, I'll take them.

Posts: 605 Location: Marshfield, WI | My friends sunk like a rock tail first with the bait pointing straight up. I didn't try adding weight or bending the eye, just bent the tail. It never ran right. Gander took it back. Krishna

I've found if the metal tail is bent down at a 45 deg. angle or more it tends to act like a reverse crankbait lip and will cause the bait's tail to dive on the pause. Had one do this and tweaked the tail to be a bit more level and it worked just fine.
