Subject: Topwater Walk the Dog Gliders

I fish out of a small boat that is pretty low to the water with no casting deck and I use an 8.6 rod. Because of this I cannot do a proper downward tap to work a glider or jerkbait. I have to do more of a sidearem tap. I've found I can get a Hellhound to work with the sidearm tap, but I have yet to find a topwater glider that I can work this way. Anyone else have the same situation or have an idea of a walk the dog glider that will work despite going sidearm rather than straight down?

Thanks!

Try leaving more slack line when you do your tap

You can also operate Gliders like the Hellhound with a snap of the reel, no rod movement neccesarry..

I have had no issues woking gliders and walk the dog topwaters with my new 9'3" okuma. Work the FISHING rod across your body leave a little slack as was said and you should be fine.
