It is a 25 hp. 4 stroke that does not seem to get to full power as fast as it used to and when it does it kind of slows down on its own and is also kind of hurky jurky when you try to slow down smothly. I am the original owner and it just does not feel right. the motor is a 98 Marinier any ideas woul sure be helpfull. thanks for your time. |

Couple of questions for you on your motor. first, have you changed the fuel filter at all? Second, how often have you changed the plugs? Third, have you run any sort of decarbonizer through the motor?
With these questions asked, this might lead others to maybe help diagnose the problem without seeing the motor. If you have not done any of these, I would suggest trying that first and seeing what happens from there.

| I believe the fuel filter was changed by a mechanic two years ago, but I really dont know if he did. I changed the plugs the day before I used the boat. The carb was cleaned last year by the mechanic. One other thing I just thought of the fuel bulb really does not seem to stay firm while under way. Any other ideas would be great. I am not cheap I was just hoping it might be a simple fix, wife kids and you know how it goes its tough to spend money on dads stuff. |

Changing the filter is a good preventative maintenance thing, so it could not hurt to do it. Those should be changed every couple of years anyway...
