I was able to get a hold of some uko's on sale cheap a few years back from a local tackle shop. I had caught a few muskies on them trolling later in the season and was happy with them up until i ran them into and over structure. No wonder these baits were on sale as they split at the nose causing the wire to rip out and the bait(s) were garbage.

I loved the action and profile of this lure and would be intersted to see how much it would cost me to have a QUALITY bait maker design one. I have baits to send if anyone wants to attempt a repo.

Hi Ryan, the Ukko by design is terrible. Though it may run great they are very weak due the thin body so like you say you hit something and they break. If it were built from a better stronger material it wouldn,t run the same. Its a classic situation where you find something that runs great but cant find a material light enough to make it strong. Crane baits are a classic example of a bait that runs great but does not stand up to heavy abuse. I love crane baits and have just accepted the fact that I will have to buy new ones every year. I even add extra coats of etex and they still get destroyed. Big fish destroy balsa wood. But Balsa is the lightest and you get the best action so its a trade off. Get as many miles out of the lure as you can. I had two Ukko divers and sold both of them on Ebay before they broke. One was starting to crack from one small fish. If you like the Ukko try a NILS MASTER INVINCIBLE 10 inch model. Much better lure by both design and productivity. NILs baits are one of the best built Crankbaits in the world. Mike

gotta agree with mike. turrus okos that i redid for a fellow were a challenge.. the invincible nils are good but pricey. i have painted hundreds of them and for the quality theres no issues.. slow lazy wobble.
