| I need to know when putting power pro on reel do you need to let out line in the water and reel it back on. We usually did this with the musky hunter line to keep it a little tighter on the spool.The new lines don't hold water like the old ones so not sure what to do. Finely updating to what has been used by most for years.

Location: Canada | Sounds like what was maybe done with Dacron line before the superbraids we have today.
There is no need to wet any of the brands of superbraid as it goes on the reel. They have a coating and when new shouldn't soak up any water. |

Location: Money, PA | No need...however, I do like to have somebody help by putting enough tension on the spool to get the line packed snuggly and evenly. Also, don't forget to start with about 25 to 50' of mono backing to prevent the braid from slipping. Good Luck!

| I usually run the line all of the way out behind a moving boat the first time I fill a reel. I reel it in and pinch the line hard with two fingers while reeling. I know the line doesn't hold water, but for some reason it helps pack it on the spool real tight.

| I will usually go out before the season, and tie my line to a tree in my front yard. I then walk down the street until all the line is out, and then reel it back on under tension. I seem to get less backlashes that way. When I start getting them again, I just do it before the next trip. I also use duct tape, around the spool as my backing, and then pack it full of braid. |

| thanks for the info. we got 5 80 lb. 300yd. spools for 65$ at a gander mountain store.they had it on a clearance rack,took all that was on rack. the store manager was mad as all heck,someone really screwed up , but i was really happy-cheap upgrade and saved alot of cash. BOUGHT MORE LURES !!!!!!!! |

Great trick! I use masking tape but it does the same thing. A buddy and I were on the river last week and he says 'my line is spinning on my spool!' (spinning reel). I asked him if he put tape on his spool before tying his line on and he said 'nope'. Luckily, I had a bandaid in my box and we used it. Worked great!
