I have a 24 volt 80lb MinnKota trolling motor in which i need a new charger. obviously there are 2 batteries in "series" i believe.

would i need a 2 bank charger with a connection of POS and NEG to each battery since they are in seriers?

and
Can anyone suggest a good place to get a battery charger from?

You need a 2 bank charger to charge both TM batteries. If it was my money, for the few bucks more it will cost you, buy a 3 bank and charge your starting/electronics battery at the same time.

Lots of places to buy one....Gander, Cabelas etc. Heck you can buy one at (God forbid) WalMart if you want. Watch the many online fishing sites (including this one) for used chargers. Most of the time these are gently used and are being sold by guys going to a bigger (more banks) or more powerful (15 amp/bank vs 5 or 10 amp/bank).

I have a dual pro 3 bank charger and there is a pair of leads for each battery. The charger does not recognize the series connection. One pair of leads is one "bank" of the charger. Best to look at the manufactures wiring instructions, but I think this is typical of most brands- number of batteries to be charged=number of banks.

You wont find a better solution than a Dual Pro. I bought the 3x15 charger from Cabelas for $400+ then found this place:

http://www.chargingchargers.com/chargers/36volt/marine/pro3.html

Saved me $100 and the charger was shipped direct from the manufacturer.
