| can anybody explain me what the difference is between gear ratio's and what they mean? |
|
| |
|
| 6.3:1 means that for every 1 turn of the reel handle, the spool will turn 6.3 times.
5.3:1 will make less revolutions per turn of the reel handle, thus a slower retrieve.
hope this helps. |

| which one is best for hardpulling lures and which one for lures like a bill lewis? |
|
| |
|
| I like the Abu 5600 C4 Winch (think that is what it is called) for hard pulling deep diving cranks. It has a gear ratio of just over 4.0:1. The only thing I don't like about the reel is the thumb-bar.
The only lure I am familiar with in regards to Bill Lewis is Rattle Traps, doubt that is what you were talking about, so can't really help there. If so, they can be reeled in with a 6.3:1 (Abu C4) no problem. |

| I was talking about bill lewis rattling lures.
The 4601 C4 I'm getting is 6.3/1 |

| Greg...when was the last time you had a hot shower + a good home cooked dinner????? [;)] |

|
| Dirk, that reel should pull the traps just fine.
Spongee, showering and eating in just a few moments then hitting the local lake. I've been fishing all over heck lately and haven't been in my backyard in 8 weeks. Time to revisit her.[] |
