my little gps unit will not power up, ive checked all the wires and rewired it and it wont power up. the funny part is that my big unit will power up on that wire setup. but its not the unit itself, because i took it to my buddies boat and it powers right up!!!!! crazy stuff, anybody with any help or suggestions please let me know what you think..

OK, so your other unit powers up on that plug, but the unit in question won't?.....but it will power up on a different plug?

Carefully inspect the both the boat cable plug/connector(s) and the unit connectors. You may have a (male) pin that is pushed back slightly or the female pin's could be slightly enlarged. Not uncommon where folks twist while pushing or pulling the connectors while taking them off or putting them on. If that's not the problem, you should work your way backward's to the battery, checking every connection, including fuses/holders.

Just because the Lcx27 starts and the LMS 334 won't doesn't mean the boat wiring is solid. Electronic equipment/unit's usually draw surge currents when initially powering up, and a bad connection would be the most likely culprit. Its like beer drinker's, some are sipper's and some are chugger's.

Good luck.

On the newer there are two positive power wires in your wiring harness you must have both hooked up. One powers your head unit and the other powers the gps antenna. You will need to install a switch on the antenna wire or it will stay on all the time.
