I have a Maxxum 74lbs trolling motor that is giving me problems. When the selector switch is in the "MOM" position (momentary?), my trolling motor stays on continuously. The foot pedal pad has no effect. Thinking a switch was "stuck", I took a look underneath the foot pedal pad and saw that there doesn't appear to be a switch at all. Under the foot pedal pad there appears to be a sensor or magnet housing. Is the motor controlled by a magnetic switch or something? If I fiddle with it, I can get the motor to turn off but the first time I press the foot pedal pad, the motor comes on again and will not shut off.

Anybody have any ideas of what is wrong or where I should look to correct the problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

it's a simple but pricey repair.you'll need to have the control board replaced as the on/off switch is a component of the board.take it to a minnkota service center and have it checked out.
