Posts: 474 | Hey guys Just thought I would share this with you all. We had very high waters here in NJ a few weeks back and several fish muskies, walleye and other species went over the dam at one of our prime lakes. These fish were stuck now in the river with no way to get back to the lake. People were reported to be snagging fish and all other sorts of horrible things. Conservation Officers patrolled the area till the state Fish and Game could organize a fish rescue with our local Muskies Inc chapter 22 which sent volunteers. Today all together we got 234 walleyes and 6 muskies, not bad for a few hours of fishing! Seriously they electro-shocked an netted the fish and we relocated them back into the lake away from the dam now that the high waters have receded. Check out the pics on our photobucket page, sorry they are not organized better but you can get a feel for the whole operation if wou flip through them. The muskies were about 36-42" range some nice. The walleyes were 12-28+" fish and some real sows in there living fat on the freshly stocked trout no doubt. This is Greenwood Lake and the Wanaque River, we did similar operations back in 07' and '05. We also had a local paper's video-grapher on hand and I will post links to his video when it is completed and posted. Posts: 114 Location: Eagle Grove, Iowa | It looks like your fish & game commision is very helpful and pro active. We have that problem in almost all our lakes in Iowa and the dnr will not help us. although they did give us the ok to transport them back into one lake a few years ago. A group of us caught around 35 in two days and put them back. There were several left but i believe most of them have been killed illegally or post mortality. It was sickening the way people handled them.

Posts: 474 | This same type operation was done in 2007 and 2005 We have a great relationship with our F&W It helps that we took the main hatchery guy out and who used to big into walleyes Guys took him muskie fishing and he got one and got hooked now the muskies are his babies too They all work hard so we try to take them fishing and help out whenever we can Show them our appreciation etc. We buy them stuff to make their job easier if the state wont buy it that kinda stuff goes a long way Ben We had some walleyes today that were built like largemouth bass some of them did not want to leave the river I think they knew that it was Friday and the trout stocking truck was coming in the afternoon! Posts: 114 Location: Eagle Grove, Iowa | We do all that stuff to. Kids fish days, donate club money to other projects also. Had a friend take out one of the main guys and caught 3 that evening the following year our stocking got cut. We just keep trying though. Keep up the good work. ps. They did go to a walleye lake and saved them. Edited by iowamusky 4/16/2010 9:15 PM

| Cool news, Kevin. Like IowaMusky said, we had some nasty flooding back in 2008 and other previous years. Some really nice Walleye and other fish went over the dam at Red rock and some other lakes. Some of the escapees were retrieved in a similar fashion. Good work, all. | |||
