I took my Tuffy out today for the first time this year. The Suzuki started up first try, ran great. I was trolling along, when a rod went off (snag), so I looked back to see the rod, and noticed the Suzuki wasn't "peeing" water like it usually does. So upon further inspection, I noticed the insert that works kind of like a garden hose nozzle was missing. So the water was running out of the exhaust more like a faucet, than the regular "peeing" stream. Does anybody know what that part is called? I can't find it anywhere on the parts list schematic?

It's called a "Water Indicator Cover" , just got a couple ordered. Is it Ok to run the motor without it? Water is still flowing through the motor? It never overheated whiile trolling yesterday either.

Hiya,

I don't think it would be much of an issue since water is still flowing through....the "peeing" so to speak is just due to the cover being on, which is really doing nothing more than forcing the water through a smaller outlet....similar to covering the end of a garden hose with your thumb... Nothing real major.

I know my old motor (99 Johnson 50 hp 2 stroke) didn't have a little cover like that...just a rubber tube that came off the water jacket... That thing blew water out like it was a running faucet...and that was by design.

As long as water is flowing well, I believe you are fine. If anything, without the cover, you have more water able to flow through...
