I'm sending a couple Calcutta's back to Shimano for service. Three times now I've spent 20 minutes on the phone waiting for "the next available representative" to ask them what the turn around time is for getting reels back. Figured it's just faster to ask here. What am I looking at? Three weeks? Six weeks? Six months?

Got my Calcutta back in two weeks...that was in October. Not sure about this time of year.

They say two day turn around and I have had that happen once out of four times. Most times it takes about ten days from when you send them and don't forget to insure them.

yeah, mine was a TE. cost me $70 or so total to fix (including insured shipping)...wasn't stoked about that but it's worth it for that reel.

I just got a couple of Calcutta 400B's back a few weeks ago. It took about two weeks to get them back. They didn't charge anything for parts, just a labor charge of $25. Can't argue with that!

The best route to go is to go their website and download their repair form. This form includes all of your important information (address, phone). Then, you pick from multiple choices and mark the issues that you are having with your reels. Do a form with each reel. Last, put your credit card number down to cover the cost of repairs. This has always worked well for me with fast and fair service.

Hope this helps!

Yep, thanks Lee. I've already got them boxed up with the forms and ready to go. I was just hoping I'd have them back by the opener, and it sounds like I will.

Thanks guys.

I never told them I was a guide so they probably don't know that I am. If I were them, I would charge double for guides. Seriously. They use their stuff more usually.

Good Luck!

My guess is equipment manufacturers like guides using their equipment when it is in tip-top shape so the guide's customers will go and buy it after the trip...that's what I'd do anyway. You're a big name, Lee, I'd bet they know your name. If not, well I suppose it depends on what you have done! I had to get the anti-reverse on mine repaired, that might be the reason it was spendy!

I would be really surprised if the reel repair techs there even speak English? Especially in California.

Did you claim it as warrantee or did they just not charge you?

they had it as a warantee issue, the handle caused so much stress on the little nut that holds it on it just pops off, happened 2 different times on my CTE-400LJV, im not going to lie, i fully expect a 3rd time this summer, i think its a bad design, but at least they fix it and ive had good expierience with them getting it back to me
