Subject: Operation Muskie Auction

Hello from Operation Muskie!

The "basement" was extremely generous to Operation Muskie last year, and the time is here again for the 2010 auction. Here is the info that many of you have already asked me about...

During each of the last two summers, a group of dedicated muskie folks lead by Dick Pearson, Doug Johnson, and Frank Walsh have paused their lives for at least a few days and volunteered their time to say thank-you to military veterans. Operation Muskie is an all-expenses-paid fishing trip for veterans with recent combat zone service.

These veterans are treated to 3 1/2 days of fishing with some of the world's best guides, and the chance to truly relax while surrounded by other people who understand what it means to serve in difficult times and places. And while the fishing is great, it's this camaraderie that has made "Op Muskie" truly special.

Please check out the updated website for more information about the event:
http://www.operationmuskie.com

Due to the generosity of those who give their time during the event, and with the help of donations large and small, this tangible thank-you has been provided to 20 veterans each year completely free of charge. Even with many people helping out, the costs of putting on an event of this size remain high. That's where you can help.

In early April this spring, there will be a fund-raising auction on the new Operation Muskie website to help fund the event for another year. Your generous gift of fishing products, guide services, or even resort stays will be auctioned off, and all proceeds will be sent directly to Vonnie Johnson, the Operation Muskie treasurer.

Contact me if you are interested in making an auction donation:

Your help showing thanks to our veterans is deeply appreciated!

hello again,

a number of you have expressed interest in making donations to the auction, and many of you did so last year, so i wanted to check-in again about it.

my experience last year is that some of the unique basement baits that are produced by folks here were the ones that brought in the highest bids.
Operation Muskie benefits tremendously from your participation.

i'm hoping to start the running/silent auction in early March, and the live auction is planned for the first week of April.

please contact me if you're able to help out!

Mike,

I'll be sending 6 new baits this year to you - should be done with the last two in about 2 weeks.

Hagensfish.com sells them. Have to order their catalog. It's a #12 indiana blade, slightly smaller then a 10 colorado. They make a few more colors than you see here too and they are priced pretty reasonable.
