Random quote: A couple of young fellers were fishing at their special pond off the beaten track when out of the bushes jumped the Game Warden. Immediately, one of the boys threw his rod down and started running through the woods like a bat out of hell, and hot on his heels came the Game Warden.

Thinking about making a "squirrelly" tailed bait but have never done one. What are some of the guys on here doing to attach the soft tail to the hard body of the bait. I have seen the glue that Hawgseekers use but what are some other ideas?

I think the best way is to make a pocket or socket in the tail with the same diameter as your grub tail. Then put a cork screw wire in the tail so you can twist on the tail.

That is what I did with a topwater. Similar but of course you would embed the wire screw into the wood. I bet a 1/8 drill hole with a wire bent back on itself and then epoxy cemented in would hold very well. I made my prototype screws by just taking a small round dowel and wrapping the wire around it.

Shane, Roger Watters is now using a drywall screw in the tail section of the hardheads (and presumably any other baits with rubber tails. Drill a hole big enough to fit the dry wall screw (not sure what size, but I'm thinking a 1/2"), then add epoxy and put the dry wall screw. The tails are not coming off with that set up fooooor sure.

Shows how much I know about drywall anchors. That's why I only fish with baits and can't build them.
