I would like to hear from anyone who knows how to do a crackle finish , would like to try some on my next batch of topwaters , thanks alot, Rod

this works. paint base coat color. then we immerse in crackle. let air dry 45 minutes. then put color coat. to advance crackling for larger cracks, apply some heat. when dry which may take 24 hours, we do 2 epoxy coats.. i hope this helps you out.

I just bought the two part paint that crackles just by spraying on

Can't you also paint the base coat with a water based paint and then hit it again with an oil based paint? Have not tried this myself but I thought that worked too. Also have seen some use two oil based paints together and then while wet they dip in water. Can't remember who was doing that here but they had some real cool looking lures.

Go to your local craft store such as Michael's, and buy a bottle of crackle medium. It works on acrylic paint. Put the bottom color on first. Let it dry. Next, put the crackle medium on and let it dry. Then put your top color on. In a couple of minutes it will start to crackle. Don't put the top color on too heavy or it won't crackle correctly.
