Just had to vent again, this evening I lost a heavy 48" class fish due to a screw eye opening up on a Jackpot[:((] [:((] [:((] . She t-boned it and was hooked solidly right in the corner of the mouth. Felt like quitting fishing right then and there, oh well there is always tomorrow.

that's tough man! You'll get her next time. That's what I think about that huge pike that I lost due to a straightened treble (size 2/0) in sweden. I'll get her next time and so will you!

A friend of mine always says.." That is why they call it fishin', not catchin'." You will get her the next time![::)]

Use that Jackpot for firewood and buy some Vipers! You can unscrew the hooks off a jackpot with your bare hands, what do you think a muskie is going to do to it?

I bought some stainless steel screw eyes and put those in my jackpots instead of the ones already in there. About five years ago I caught a 48" fish on an Awaker, another Poe's bait, and the screw eye was severly damaged after that encounter. Now I dont use either bait. I use models that can actually handle a muskie. Later

Man life just sucks at times but you need to get out there and land the next one.

It happens to all of us, today after catching a 34 incher in my first 5 cast we went on the see squat for 5 hours of casting and trolling in the rain. Decided to try one last spot on the way to the launch so as we start our trolling run I decide to burn our spinnerbaits ( mine was a tripple with added weight for trolling ), I mean 6 MPH going againts the current and withing 30 seconds I get a rip. I grab the rod set the hooks to feel some nice headshakes, I tell my partner that this was a big fish and in less then 1 minute it is gone. I never got to see it but from experience this was a 25 # or more fish or something over 48 inches. [:blackeye:]

But I will get the next one as it's our MFWW fishing match. [:p]

I fixed the problem by making my jackpots thru wire. The sad part of the deal is that I had plans to modify these lures a couple months ago after hearing the many stories of Jackpot failure.[:(] Equipment failure is not an option any more[] .

Todd:
Try unscrewing the front eye and hook hangers and using 2-part epoxy. Then screw them back in. You wont be able to turn them again once the epoxy sets up. Or you can try a Doc.
