in what method do you think would bring more success, let's say making 30 casts in 10 mintues over a spot or them 30 casts in the same spot for 30 mintutes! what do guys all think!

Depends on what I'm trying to do. If I'm looking for very active fish and hitting high percentage spots or gunning for fish I've spotted on a repeated milk run, I run and gun. If I'm fishing particular fish and know where they are, I fish VERY slowly, and repeat coverage from different angles over and over and over....ask Sorno.

when you say you fish very slowly are you saying your slow rolling the baits or just spending more time on that spot!

Spend more time on the spot, that was the question as I understood it.

FWIW, I'll throw in my two cents...though I be far from an expert. I'm with Steve in that "it depends." But for me, it's for different reasons. For me it's often a matter of time. I try to fish as efficiently as possible. If I've got limited time, like a couple of hours, I'll hit an area and fish it hard for those two hours, not wanting to waste even 20 minutes on a run across the lake. But if I have all day long and I expect to be out during a couple of feeding windows, I'll move alot more and try to put my fly in front of more potentially active fish. That's during the summer. During the fall and into December, I stay put alot more and just repetedly pound spots with different baits and presentations because I know there's fish there and eventually they'll eat.

I think alot too depends on the water you're fishing. Fishing structured water, I think is more conducive to a milk run....this rock pile, to this point, to this sunken island, and so on. You can only pound a half acre point for so long. But on big, open water with relatively little structure, like LSC, I think that type of water lends itself well to staying put. And by staying put, I mean fishing (drifting) the same 200 acre weed bed for 8 hrs. There's fish in there, and you can drift it all day long and eventually a fish will bite.

The lake is a big factor. For instance, Leech Lake, I would sit on a spot and work it for a long long time. There it's all timing. Whereas, on LOTW I pepper the spot once and go. It is more of a 1st or 2nd bait through type of deal... In most cases.

Pressured water = spending time dissecting
Non - Pressured = Run and Gun

The latter....the more time your lure is in the water, the more chance you'll get bit!

Depends on lots of things. Time of year, color of water, temperature of the water, weather, wind, mood of the fish, and lots of other stuff you figure out eventually.

No right or wrong answer.

I go all by how the fish are acting. If it is prime conditions, I run and gun. Put the trolling motor on constant, and start pounding. If the conditions are tougher, I'll use more of a finesse approach and slow things down a little.
