Posts: 20 | was wondering if any one can give me opinions on this rod . i am actually not a muskie fisher but fish for bass and i throw large swimbaits . i want to use this rod for throwing big baits (trout style jointed and soft baits) and seeing as this rod is rated for 4-16 oz. lures , seems like it might be ideal for what i want it for . thanks ..

I have a 9" I use for muskies and really like it. I also have a Spring, slightly lighter action that I also really like.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Just an FYI but here is what the bass guys think of Reaction Strike products in general. http://swimbaitnation.com/nationtalk/search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&keyw... http://swimbaitnation.com/nationtalk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24299&hili... http://swimbaitnation.com/nationtalk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23649&hili... http://swimbaitnation.com/nationtalk/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20971&hili... These guys have 10+++ years of making rods and baits.....They make most or all of the Musky Innovations stuff too. While I do not see anything on rods in those posts I think they make MattLures rods and I have heard some good things about that rod on the above Bass Chatboard.

While I do not see anything on rods in those posts I think they make MattLures rods and I have heard some good things about that rod on the above Bass Chatboard. i am on that forum alot , i know the mattlures rods made by reaction strike are good , it is that i don't want a factory rod , i want it built to how i want it . i don't want a telescoping rod or adjustable handles , i am gonna have eva split grips , a 18" handle , depending on the thickness, a FUJI ACS reel seat , micro guides and it will be spiral wrapped . i just want opinions on the rod i mentioned , the "super magnum" , want to know if it can indeed throw up to 1 pound lures effectively and that it is a sloid rod ..... thanks for the comments , i hope to hear more .

Posts: 402 Location: Eagle River, WI | "was wondering if any one can give me opinions on this rod ." Ease up there cowboy. You asked about a rod not a blank. Nobody here can read minds. Since your new here I'll let you in a little secret. If your nice to people, they will help you and answer your questions.

Posts: 20 | sorry for the misunderstanding , what i'm looking for is comments on the " super magnum" muskie rod . i am gonna buy just the blank , not a factory rod . i have talked to Rick Quade and he will sell me just the blank . he has told me that he doesn't usually sell the blank in itself . so that is why i'm trying to find is feedback about the factory rod that has this same blank used in it . i know a few of you guys might fish this same rod(super magnum) and can tell your opinions on how it casts BIG baits . did not mean to sound like an ass , accept my apologies , please ... Posts: 294 Location: Bloomer, Wi | I absolutly love my 8 ft super mag rod, it cast 1 pound bulldawgs awesome, some bend in the rod, almost not enough bend, but it performed very well for me. Edited by Joe Cal 2/6/2010 6:14 AM

anytime you ask about a product, you're going to get opinions about the company who makes that product. Reaction Strike/Trophy Tech/Quade seems to generate more strong responses than most anyone else. think about what that means before you buy. http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=55...

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The REACTION STRIKE "SUPER MAG" is one of the best rods/blanks on the market today, the rod comes in 7'6" -8'- 8'6" and 9' and is rated for 4-16oz baits, the rod is a fast action. You will not go wrong with this blank for baits 4-16oz
