Location: Hudson, WI | I am interested in making some wooden baits this winter. I would like to make some glide baits and I am wondering, what type of wood would be best for this application?
Thanks |

i've used a number of different woods with success. i have used poplar, which will work, but it needs to be sealed very well, and then it will have to be more heavily weighted, but it is easy to get and work with. More recently, I been using cherry, i have easy access to it and it works well. Hard maple is also a great wood for gliders. hope this helps, let us know how it goes.

| hard maple is great, sands good and is a dense wood. check yellow pages for a custom cabinet shop nearby, they will sell you scraps cheap if they make the doors there. if not they can hook you up with someone who can. good luck!! |

| I'll second both the maple and cherry, softwoods just take to much sealing and weight |
