Recently, while viewing our State's website, noticed a section on fishing for muskies with live bait. As I personally don't fish with live bait, figured I'd check it out anyway. I was amazed to find the State advocating fishing with a minnow through the lip approach. After talking with members in my Muskie Fishing Club, we decided to contact the State and see if we might be able to do something more "muskie friendlier". I've contacted the rep from our State, and was asked if we would like to rewrite the article. My question to you all, is if you would have any suggestions , with what to include in the article. I am aware of a quick strike rig with suckers, but really have no first hand experience with this. Any and all suggestions would be welcomed!
Thanks.

I learned how to do a quick strike rig from watching Pete Maina on the next bite on you tube, just type it in on you tube rigging sucker minnows quick strike or something and it should come up!

can you use two hooks instead of one? what about using a regular quick strike rig such as mania lift off and just putting the wire through the mouth?

You certainly can use a two-hook rig, like the Mania type. It's probably the most popular rig out there. In my opinion, you may fool a few more fish in clear water with a single hook rig, but I'd bet hooking perentage makes up for that difference on the two-hook rigs.

Ooops....."advocating fishing with a minnow through the lip approach".....are we talking minnows or suckers????
Usually I don't qualify a sucker as a minnow......although it could be, I think a sucker as being much larger.
the hooking of a minnow through the lip might be a good way.

that video is for throwing a sucker over the side of the boat but not for trolling if you wanted I guarantee the sucker would not stay up right trolling with that setup that way for long!
