I would say it's more of a dark gray. Frank B. just built me a 9'er. Maybe he could throw some pics up to give you more of a idea?

I have one and its sort of a dark graphite. Look up the shimano core reel and it's about that exactly. Went with black wraps and blue threads turned out great. Believe me the blank is not black. Charcoal, graphite is more like it.

If you're a heavy snap caster I would suggest having them wrap the extension with the fiberglass wrap that they have. There is a lot of force on that extension if you really load the rod.

When you say extention part of blank, are you talking about the last 3'?

I think he means the extra piece of graphite they put on the butt end of the rod to add length. Is the the first few inches or the last few inches...?

The Predator blank is 9' they put a 6" extension in the butt (he he). They can wrap that connection with a fiberglass wrap to make it stronger. If you are a hard caster as I am, this wrap will strengthen the connection so that you don't snap the extension clear out of the blank. I have had this happen to me.

The predator blank is 9'. so when built to 9' there is no extension needed. The only way the you would need to extend this blank is if someone wanted it longer than 9'. I have built and extended numerous rods. adding graphite is not necessary. it is important to make sure you have a good piece of extension and that it is properly fitted to the blank and epoxied very very well.

He stated that he wanted a 9'6" Predator therefore my comments about the extension.

When I ext. a rod, if I ext it 6" U must have 1-1/2 times that amount inside of the rod. So I would have 9" inside the rod and have 6" as the ext. Also I use UB 40 ROD BOND for the glue. It is best to put the ext. piece on the outside of the blank but it is hard to find a piece that large in DIA. so I will use graphite driver golf shafts as my ext. and will install it inside of main rod.

with lonnie and thorne bros building the rod and extending it you should have zero issues. they are the best.

The rod in the pic above has the split grips. Maybe Frank could add that pic as well, to give ya the idea. lol

Note: As I finshed typing, I read the part... "and have that extension" That i'm not sure about (don't think so), as the rod above is a 9'er.
