Posts: 39 Location: IL | Great interview Steve, A lot of GREAT memories of watching them, as well as, Virgil Ward back in the 70's! When those shows were going to be on.....it was a BIG deal, and everyone would get together at one house or another....order pizza's and be glued to the set while watching every cast, and listening intently on every word! VERY little info/shows about Muskies back then. They, along with Fishing Facts, and a few of the other "Outdoor" Magazines, would maybe have 1 or 2 articles/episodes a year dedicated to Musky, which left the average "Joe" to doing a LOT of trial & error compared with todays informational media's. We've come a looong way since then, but those begining years hold some GREAT memories.

It helped scratch the surface to show the majority of us that the greatest percentage (my guess is 90%+) of what the people in the fishing and boating industry do, occurs outside of the their public activities! To be successful the greatest majority of their work and efforts are on the business side of their TV shows, magazines, and videos, and isn't just jumping into a boat with a camera! Posts: 2361 | I was thinking about the FLW walleye tournament, and there seem to be some pretty notable problems that are going to impact all walleye tourney's. These guys found a great path at a great time, almost first to the table with two great products, and then dovetailing their product into tournament fishing and tournament fishing products. Nobody will ever do it like that again in the fishing world. And that isn't even considering their personal testimony. They are humble people.
