| What are the best planer boards for trolling muskie baits? |

Location: Appleton | I use offshore planers and change the clips to the red ones. I have used the Roach walleye boards too and they also work without changing clips. |

Location: lansing, il | I like the mr. walleye boards, but i am sure you will be told that you cant use them. they work well for me and attach/detach quick and easy. |

| Offshore with OR18 clips for super braid.
or Church walleye boards for mono line.
I run offshores with super braid for the no strech, on far out boards
Church boards for the inside boards and mono line,
I use both. Church boards don't hold super braids very well. |

Location: Appleton | If you loop the superbraid around the front clip a Church (mr walleye) board will hold super braid just fine. If you don't it will slip everytime. I just like having flags on my boards so I made the switch. |

| A friend of mine, Chris the Baymiester, showed me a neat trick on the mr walleyes. he dips the ends of the clips into the plastic tool dip. (i forget what it is called) it will help keep the superbraids from coming off. |

| planer boards....they are wood. 30" to 32" long. (not 10" and plastic)
you do not attach them to your fishing line. they are attached to a string line off a mast.
little plastic planer boards are good for musky baits that no put pull hard. if you using hard pulling baits, you'll want somethign else besides walleye boards. |

Location: Smith Creek | They do run great... but in-lines are better IMO for several reasons: fish gets slack line after it hits, if your fishing weeds you'll need about 100 spare clips and a first mate to get everything rigged, less manuverable, tough to run lures at different depths off the same board (if your outside line gets fouled your inside slides out to the outside and the fouled line gets rotated to the inside. Sound confusing?)
I do like them for salmon fishing, but they've been around longer than in-lines and haven't caught on in the Midwest for a reason. They're probably fine on LSC or Georgian Bay if you don't mind the slack line.
