Hi guys, Our musky club(Volunteer Musky Hunters) down here in TN is going to be running a booth at the Knoxville Fishing Show next month. As you might expect, Musky still isn't the "big" thing around here, but we are wanting to shed some light on them at this show, and hopefully bring in some new members and such.

Anyways, I was just wondering if any of you guys might be able to help out. I have an idea to come up with some kind of "FAQ" sheet, or "The Truth about...." regarding muskies. I was just wondering anyone might know of a good brochure, or article thats already written up that we might could use(with the permission of that writer of course)? My plan is to print it out on a piece of paper, and display it on our table, so for those "anti-musky" guys down here, they can have something to shed the truth about muskies....without us having to argue with them about it...haha.

Anyways, If anyone has any ideas, or knows of anything we might could use, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks
Will Schultz

Thanks alot Will! We have a Muskies Inc. member in our club, and he is going to see about getting some of those Muskies Inc. brochures. I also sent an email to Brad to see if he minded if we hand some of those out in our booth. Thanks again.

You might want to try to educate people on how long it takes a muskie to grow and how fragile these fish are. The muskies Inc. site is full of good info.
I hope to be down your way (Melton Hill) this coming Feb.-March.

Thanks Jerome, That is part of our clubs "Mission Statement", to preserve the fishery, and educate other anglers in the importance of that. I think between that "What do muskies really eat?" brochure, and the ones we get from Muskies Inc., that should be a good start.

Feel free to shoot me a pm when you get ready to head down this way.

I think I sent you this link yesterday to the catch & release based website I put together. There is a section that mentions some costs associated with stocking muskies related to their normal growth pattern. One study I mention was done in Wisconsin and showed only 6-8 out of 1000 stocked muskies reached 50 inches. (at least on the study lake).
Around these parts we always deal with the "Muskies eat all the walleye" crowd. When we mention that the top 5 or more walleye fishing lakes in Minnesota, such as Leech, Mille Lacs, LOTW, etc. are full of muskies yet the walleye fishing is outstanding, they don't seem to have much of a rebuttal. Good luck with everything down there D.
