| the newest big fish pic put up on the website has a scarred over rear lower fin. the 45 inch fish we caught out there a few weeks back was missing a fin like that as well. But when thinking about it i have never caught another fish anywhere n i fish mn that has had that. anyone else ever see that? |

Location: The desert | Often times the entire fin is clipped so the fish can be easily identified. I wouldn't be surprised if that fish had a floy tag in it as well, however those can fall out.
We've helped out a grad student by clipping around 8 thousand or so brook trout finerlings. Some triploid, some diploid. We had a specific pectoral fin that was clipped depending on what genetic alteration they were. |

| Before the spearing started 'up north', I caught walleyes missing one or both front bottom fins. All of these fish were also covered with scars, warts, growths....whatever. Probably from being handled several times. And 2 muskies that were also missing one botton front fin completely. They too were showing signs of being handled and slime removed, especially around the gill flap areas.
Been there, seen that. |

Location: The desert | Not all get tagged. Generally the fin clip distinguishes a stocking class. Some mark-recapture surveys utilize a fin clip as well. In our case, however, we usually use a hole punch on the caudal fin. |
