Anyone have a preference towards modifying or using baits like globes and creepers with spreader hooks in the front? Have you seen your hook percentages go up or change the baits action? Been thinking of tinkering hav'nt had real problems with any of the baits but thought it could only help, but dont want to alter their action either.

have started to play with this too. seems to affect action of creepers more than globes. don't use with heavy weeds . as to how to best add to each bait would defer to the bait makers.

I would'nt use them on creepers myself, but on prop baits and globes I would have to say it's 50/50 in the baits I make for others, I have some customers who always ask for spreaders on the baits I make for them. As far as hooking percentage I have'nt noticed really any difference except on larger bodied lures , I usually use smaller sized hooks on spreaders seems to help on spinning and overall balance of the lure

Pick up a Joel Wick creeper with the drop spreaders. There is a big difference in hook ups, and they also seem to run more true. But ask for the drop spreader...not the side spreader.
I think I had some influence in his Idea, for drop spreaders, but give Joel the credit...he innovated the idea.

does anyone have photo of a creeper with drop spreader and a creeper with side spreaders? does it make any difference if the creeper is jointed?

My preference is a straight creeper. Some like a jointed creeper. I like to make it as easy for the fish to eat as possible. The straight is less erratic .

First save your money guest...then email Joel for a creeper...they are pricy but they are awesome.

Jay; I would say those are both the side spreaders. The drop spreader is on the underbody, and wire comes from the belly, not the sides like you displayed.
