Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The morning was clear and cold, but the skies clouded over and temps didn't warm as forecast. The fish were willing to visit a bit, but no one we talked to up until this afternoon boated one, but there's plenty of time yet. Jerome moved a couple good fish, one of which nipped a couple times and exited. He was fishing over 30 to 45' keying on bait, which was definitely there. Tonight it's a Walleye fry on Spring Bay Resort at the Landing, and awards and give aways from Frabill, Beav's Basement Baits, Musky Innovations, Spring Bay, and MuskieFIRST. Thanks to all who braved the cold, snow, rain, and wind to attend the Outing! Spring Bay Resort surpassed expectations, providing the best accommodations available on Vermilion and a great time for all. Thanks to Steve and Joe and the crew at Spring Bay for the hospitality! Watch soon for the 2010 Spring Bay Resort summer outing dates and special Muskie Show promotions sponsored by Spring Bay and MuskieFIRST. Posts: 4266 | Those sonar echos look like it could have time to troll some big deep divers. Wish I could have been there, but Taylor and I will definitely be back next year. Maybe a 3 week stay right before school starts Steve, Joe, you guys make Spring Bay our favorite place to stay. Thanks for all of your muskiefirst support. Beav and Taylor

Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Two more muskies were caught in camp, a 32 and a 45. There were several close encounters, and Rudy busted another big Pike. All in all, the trip was a blast, and everyone had a good time tonight at the Walleye Dinner sponsored by Spring Bay. We'll be back, the Vermilion Muskies owe us. Posts: 28 | thanks to Muskiefirst for this outing and the excellent Springbay Resort and it's owners who are wonderful people who went out of their way to make sure everyone has what they need and their amenities are second to none, the lake is so beautiful and I want to come up next outing, everyone was nice and good people. First day I trolled the 13in grandma and triple d's and throwing the pounder and double cowgirl also the glittertail, thats pretty much what I stuck to the whole trip and even on a guide trip with Steve thats what we threw, I seen a fish third day but he swam off when I figure eighted, I tried several more times to catch it to no avail it looked to be not more than 42or43in great vacation thanks keep us updated on the fishing Steve. I will be back thanks everyone nice to meet you all, Nick and Kim.

Posts: 131 | ryan and i fished our butts off for 5 days. we saw one fish that was just a sow,54-55 inch class!my gps screen is a solid mass of pink from the countless hours we spent trying to boat her.she showed up on a double 10 flashabou spinner that i made.i got a perfect view of her right at boatside.made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!what a thrill!our total for the trip was 11 muskies sighted,3 lost, a 32-37 and 40 inch pike[some of you might have heard me cussing when that one hit the net],frozen fingers that were rescued with athletic tape and a slight headache friday morning after the campfire.thanks jerome.. all in all it was TOUGH fishing but we had a ball!sprind bay is awesome and the people who attended were a great bunch of crazy muskie nuts, nice to meet you all! i'll be back next year for sure!as for the bulldawg with the hooks on top it really does seem to be pretty snag resistant in the rocks plus it can be fished easier in the cabbage.the 37 inch pike totaly inhaled a pounder with the hooks on top and was released unharmed,no blood, took off like the snot rocket it was when i put it back into the water.the upcoming 2 weeks should produce some real pigs up there.if i could i'd go back today!thanks to all the people at spring bay and to the sponsors. beaver i am now the proud owner of 4[!] of your perkas, thanks!

Posts: 183 Location: Grand Forks ND | We were not an official part of the MuskiesFIRST outing but happened to be staying in the resort at the same time and talked to several of the people at the fire Thursday night. We had a real good time talking and having a couple beers with you...although we did stay up a few hours too late! I thought the weather was perfect for boating a big musky, but they were uncooperative a large part of the trip. Friday and Sunday we didn't even see a fish, but Saturday our buddy Jesse caught a 45 and the three of us had 10 other follows. I had one hooked for a second at boatside and it got off when its head came out of the water. Brent had one on for a couple seconds at boatside when it got off as well. Jesse had another fish that followed his bait for 3 figure 8's and then just swam away. Like a lot of other people have stated, Spring Bay Resort is top notch--as are its owners. Overall we had a great first trip to Vermilion--and we will be back. Here's Jesse with his "Bucher Hold". Edited by MuskyManiac09 10/19/2009 1:23 PM

Posts: 1169 Location: New Hope MN | The outing has got to be the BEST bang for the buck trip I have ever been on. It had AMAZING cabins, great food, good drinks and an extremely helpful staff. I would love to go back again. Too bad the fishing was so tough, but that's musky fishing... Thanks again, Dave
